Let the games begin

Good afternoon to everyone following along back inthe USA! Today we moved to our new hotel in Jerusalem, in preparation for the games to begin. We have the opening ceremony tomorrow evening and if it is like 2009, we will be at the stadium at least 4 or 5 hours before it is to begin, which is 8:00 pm. Regardless, the openng ceremony is an awe inspiring event, complete with the Prime Minister and President of Israel speaking to the over 40,000 people in the stands and all the athletes. It truly is a remarkable evening.

Well, we had our Technical meeting with all coaches nd Israeli Soccer Officials present. There was nothing earth shattering at the meeting, other than this litle tidbit. In order to get practice times, we must first request the day and time and then they decide whether to allow you to practice or not. If we are fortunate enough to get a practice time, we must pay for our own transportation to and from the practice. I have never heard anything like this, but is it unexpected, no! We will therefore go to the tennis court behind the hotel and play soccer tennis for touches on the ball and walk through our set pieces once again.

I have never seen anything like this in regards to not having practice times available upon our arrival and not being provided transportation. Oh well, we will adapt and overcome this small blip on the horizon an make it work to our advantage. We are ready toget on with the tournament and make a strong run at winnng th whole thing!

I will write, with photos from the Opening Ceremony tomorrow and try to give you a feel for he magnitude of this event.

To my family and and our Goldens, I love you nd miss you all very much!

Coach G from Israel
